Bidding on upwork is no more free. Each bid will cost you $2 . Hence, it becomes very important for you that every bid you place you do it for becoming the WINNER.

Here is what you need to do .

1. Complete Upwork Profile: Make sure you have 100% complete profile. Fill all the information on your profile starting from introduction to your skill set and certificates.

2. Cover Letter / Resume: It plays very vital role. This is the place where you can tell the client that you can do the job and how you have helped in the past to the people with same requirement. If you have not done any similar job in past, just make sure you mention this. But make sure you explain properly how you can fulfil his requirment and be very specific. Do not write a general cover letter. It has to be extremely focussed based on the job information provided. Make sure you ask questions if you have any.

3. Recent Similar Work Done: Put all of similar experience you have in your cover letter. If none, then just explain how you can complete this project. There will not be many upwork applicants who has done similar job but if you have done any thats definitely a plus point to get hired.

4. Upwork Tests Passed: Focus yourself on few technology and give each relevant test.  You can retake the tests every month so you will have the opportunity to pass or increase your score if you fail to do this in first attempt.

5. Video about your expertise: Get dressed formally and shoot a video explaining your studies, work experience, skill set and your working process. Right now, not many people on upwork have their video so this is going to be very positive point for you.

7. Cost: It plays very vital role. Even if you put together an excellent cover letter and if you quote on higher side, there will be chances it may get un noticed. People come to freelancing sites because they want to save money and get quality product so make sure you put competitive price.

8. Quality of Work: While cost plays very vital role, quality of work has same importance too. So make sure your cover letter focus on the quality you deliver and it has to be industry standard.

9. Communication: This is one of the biggest concern of buyer on freelancing platforms. Most of the buyers want the people they hire to speak fluent english. So, if you are low on this, take learning english classes to improve.

10. Testimonials:  Ask your past clients to give video testimonials. Text based testimonials are not working nowadays .
